Ol’ Matt and Trevor
did dare to endeavor
to watch a film by Frank Marshall.
Along came some spiders,
and they were venomous biters.
To this Amblin Thrillomedy we’re partial.
It’s the late Frank Marshall’s directorial debut: Arachnophobia. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, the movie was branded as (god only knows why) a “Thrillomedy,” seeking to give wide audiences a movie that would scare them silly.
Starring Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, and Julian Sands; Arachnophobia is the PG-13 killer spider thriller that gave the heebie jeebies to younger versions of Matt and Trevor. On the film’s 30th anniversary, does it hold up?
Or is it a desiccated and dried up husk?
